Who We Are
PolicyOptic operates a software platform that helps boat owners organize marine insurance documents and request marine insurance quotes, and helps insurance professionals review qualified opportunities and client documents. PolicyOptic is a technology and communications platform. PolicyOptic is not an insurance company, broker, or agent, does not sell or bind insurance, and does not provide insurance advice or recommendations.
Information We Collect
- Account information (email, password, account type).
- Vessel and profile information you provide.
- Uploaded documents (insurance policies, renewals, quotes, declarations, surveys) — stored privately, not public.
- Extracted factual data with source document/page references.
- Usage information (device, browser, IP, pages visited) for security and service improvement.
How We Use Information
- To organize your uploaded documents into a structured, source-linked review.
- To build and maintain your Boat Passport.
- To let you post insurance requests to the Marketplace.
- To let insurance professionals review Marketplace opportunities and, if authorized, access information needed to quote you.
- To provide account access, security, support, and improvements.
How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared with an insurance professional only when you post a Marketplace request and a professional purchases that specific opportunity, or when you otherwise explicitly authorize sharing. Each Marketplace opportunity is sold to one professional only — never broadcast to multiple professionals. Access can be revoked or expired at any time. We may share information with service providers under confidentiality obligations, or if required by law.
Data Storage and Security
Uploaded documents and extracted facts are private by default. We use industry-standard safeguards including encrypted storage and access controls. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights and Choices
- You may access, correct, delete, or export your information.
- You can access/correct information directly in the app.
- Request account deletion by contacting support@policyoptic.com.
- Export your Boat Passport (including for transfer to a new owner).
Data Retention
We retain information while your account is active or as needed for legal/operational purposes. You may request deletion at any time.
Children's Privacy
PolicyOptic is not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with an updated date.
